Six area youth awarded NFEC academic scholarships

An investment in our youth is an investment in our future.  Northfork Electric Cooperative is proud to announce the recipients of the 2023 Academic Scholarships.  The following students were selected to receive a $500 scholarship to be used towards college or vo-tech.

Rylee Wyatt, Elk City High School

After high school Rylee plans to attend Oklahoma State University to study mechanical or aerospace engineering.  Rylee served as a student representative for the Native American Education Committee and was a member of Joy Hofmeister’s EngageOK Student Panel in 2022.  She was active in Kay Club, Spanish Club, Student Council, FCA, Interact, NSHSS, AISES and Academic Team.  Rylee was on the varsity fastpitch softball, basketball and golf teams.  She is a member of the National Honor Society and the recipient of numerous academic and athletic honors.

Kye Keyes, Elk City High School

After graduating from high school, Kye plans to attend Oklahoma State University and study landscape architecture.  While in high school, Kye received numerous honors and awards including the State FFA Degree and Kiwanis Student of the Year in 2019.  He also served on Joy Hofmeister’s EngageOK Student Panel in 2022.  Kye was active in FFA, Interact, Student Council, FCA, Key Club, TSA.  Kye was a member of the Elk City basketball, baseball, football, and cross country teams.  Kye is a member of the National Honor Society and also has a lengthy list of academic and athletic achievements.

Bailey Seymour, Sayre High School

Bailey plans to attend Oklahoma State University and major in Psychology.  She served as an Oklahoma House of Representatives Page and is a member of the Oklahoma Honor Society.  Bailey has a lengthy list of activities including basketball, fast pitch and slow pitch softball, track & field, cheerleading, marching and concert band.  She served as a class officer and on the Student Leadership Council.  Bailey was named the DAR Good Citizen and received the Leadership Focus Award along with many other academic and athletic accomplishments.

Mason Tucker, Sayre High School

Mason has plans to attend Murray State College in the fall where he will study gunsmithing technology. Throughout high school Tucker has been active in 4-H, FFA, Robotics, and Trapshooting.  Mason took second place in the 2023 Western Equipment John Deere Ag Tech Invitational and also has a lengthy list of individual and team trapshooting awards.  He was named Outstanding Welding Student of the Year and is a member of the National Technical Honor Society.  Mason has also been the recipient of numerous FFA and Robotics Awards.

Owen Elliott, Canute High School

Owen plans to attend Redlands Community College where he will study Ag Finance.  Owen was recently named Mr. CHS and is a member of the National Honor Society.  He has been active in Gifted & Talented and received the Good Attendance Award.  Owen has been a member of the Canute baseball and trap shooting teams, and also Canute FFA.

Jackson Campbell, Sayre High School

Following high school Jackson plans to attend Southeastern Oklahoma State University and major in Engineering.  Jackson was a Boys State delegate and a member of the Alumni Court.  He served as a class officer and has been accepted to the honors program at SEOSU.  In high school Jackson was a member of the Sayre High School basketball and baseball teams.  He was also active in FFA, Robotics, Academic Team and 4-H.   He has participated in over 10 math/science partnerships with Oklahoma colleges and universities.
